What is Profhilo and how does it work?

Profhilo is the highest concentrated Hyaluronic acid on the market. It’s not a filler.

Once injected into the skin, it stimulates the production of Collagen and Elastin, both essential substances in maintaining a young looking skin.

It works by boosting and hydrating the skin and also by remodeling the ageing and sagging tissue, by providing a tightening and lifting effect.

Profhilo lasts in the skin for around 28 days. During this period of time, it stimulates the production of collagen and elastin, by slowly releasing Hyaluronic acid.

The final result is a younger, smoother, plumper tighter and brighter looking skin.

What conditions can be treated with Profhilo?

Profhilo can be injected into face, neck, décolletage and hands.

It is a safe, effective and minimally invasive treatment.

It can be used to treat a variety of skin conditions:

• Fine lines and wrinkles
• Loose, saggy, dry, crepey skin
• Sun damaged skin

What can I expect from the treatment?

Profhilo provides hydration to the skin and also a tightening and lifting effect to the whole face, making you look younger and healthier.

Who will perform the treatment?

The treatment is performed by Dr Golfomitsos, it’s delivered using very small needles through 5 injection points on each side of the face.

Prior to the treatment, a Lidocaine cream is applied onto the skin, to render the treatment as comfortable and painless as possible.

It’s very well tolerated, with most people reporting only mild discomfort.

How long does the treatment take?

Each session lasts about 30 minutes. 

Prior to the treatment you will have to schedule a consultation with the Doctor to be assessed for suitability, to discuss goals and to choose the best treatment option for you. 

During this consultation you’ll be made aware of treatment’s benefits and side effects and you will have to sign a consent form.

How long do the results last for?

It’s widely recommended to have 2 Profhilo treatments, 4 weeks apart to achieve the best possible results.

Results start becoming apparent 4-6 weeks after treatment and they last for about 6 months, after which a maintenance session will be required.

Are there any side effects?

Common side effects are:

• Pain or tenderness
• Swelling, redness, mild bleeding and bruising 
• Numbness, tightness 

All these usually settle spontaneously within a few days after treatment.

What is the downtime and after care?

Profhilo has no down time. You can go back to work and resume your activities the same day of your treatment.

There are some recommendations to follow in order to maximize the effects of your treatment such as:

• Do not perform heavy exercise for 48 hours
• Do not sunbathe for 48 hours
• Limit alcohol consumption
• Don’t have any other clinical treatments for 1 week post treatment.
