FAQ
What are Dermal Fillers and what are they used for?
Dermal fillers are made out of Hyaluronic Acid, a substance naturally occurring in the body.
They are used to smooth fine lines and wrinkles and to restore facial volume in multiple areas, such as cheeks, chin, jaw line, around the mouth, under eyes and for lips augmentation.
What can I expect from the treatment?
Dermal fillers are a very effective and minimally invasive way of correcting a defect, reshaping and contouring your nose.
Results are immediately visible, right after the treatment, with the best aesthetic results achieved 2-3 weeks after treatment, once the filler has been integrated with the rest of the facial tissue.
Liquid rhinoplasty is a great alternative to surgery in terms of downtime and costs.
Who will perform the treatment and what products do you use?
The treatment is performed by Dr Cristina and it’s delivered using very small needles.
It’s very well tolerated, with most people reporting only mild discomfort.
We use Juvederm Voluma. It contains Lidocaine anaesthetic, to increase comfort. Prior to the treatment a Lidocaine cream is applied onto the skin, to numb the area and render the treatment as comfortable and painless as possible.
How long does the treatment take?
The treatment takes about 45 minutes.
Prior to the treatment you will have to schedule a consultation with the Doctor to be assessed for suitability, to discuss goals and to choose the best treatment option for you.
During this consultation you’ll be made aware of treatment’s benefits and side effects and you will have to sign a consent form.
After the treatment you will be invited for a follow up appointment in 2 weeks, to assess results.
How long do the results last for?
Results are immediately visible, right after the treatment, with the best aesthetic results achieved 2-3 weeks after treatment.
Results usually last for 12-18 months, in same patients they can last up to 2 years, depending on life style.
Are there any side effects?
Common side effects are:
- Pain or stinging at the injection site
- Swelling, redness, mild bleeding and bruising at the injection site
- Numbness
- Headache
All these usually settle spontaneously within a few days after treatment.
What is the downtime and after care?
Dermal fillers have little to no down time, you can go back to work and resume your activities right after the treatment.
However there are some recommendations to follow in order to maximize the effects of your treatment such as:
- Do not wear make up for at least 12 hours
- Do not consume alcohol for 48 hours or perform vigorous exercise for 14 days
- Avoid hot bath, saunas and steam rooms or other extreme sources of heat, including sunbathing for 14 days
- Avoid non-steroidal analgesia as they might worsen the bruising
- Avoid touching the area for 1 week
- Avoid wearing glasses for 2 weeks
