Dermal fillers

What are Dermal Fillers and what are they used for?

Dermal fillers are made out of Hyaluronic Acid, a substance naturally occurring in the body.

They are used to restore facial volume, lost with aging, in multiple areas, such as cheeks, chin, jaw line, around the mouth and under eyes.

Another use of fillers is for lips augmentation, to give the lips a fuller, plumper, sexier look.

They are also used to fill fine lines, wrinkles and deep folds on face, neck and hands.

What can I expect from the treatment?

Dermal fillers are a very effective and minimally invasive way of restoring volume loss, reshaping and contouring.

They are used to treat the following areas:

  • Lips augmentation
  • Cheeks enhancement
  • Chin reshaping
  • Jawline contouring
  • Nasolabial folds
  • Marionette lines/Smile lines

Results are immediately visible, right after the treatment, with the best aesthetic results achieved 2 weeks after treatment.

Your lips will appear fuller, your face will have a fresher, fuller, smoother, younger look, as a consequence of volume restoration and contouring by the filler.

Fillers can be used in combination with other aesthetic treatments, such as Botox, Microneedling, PRP and Mesotherapy.

Who will perform the treatment and what products do you use?

The treatment is performed by a Specialist Trained Doctor.

The treatment is delivered using very small needles or cannulas, depending on the areas.

It’s very well tolerated, with most people reporting only mild discomfort.

We use Juvederm and Belotero products. Both brands’ syringes are prefilled with Lidocaine anesthetic to increase comfort. Also prior to the treatment a Lidocaine cream is applied onto the skin, to numb the area and render the treatment as comfortable and painless as possible.

How long does the treatment take?

The treatment takes about 30 minutes. Multiple areas require longer time

Prior to the treatment you will have to schedule a consultation with the Doctor to be assessed for suitability, to discuss goals and to choose the best treatment option for you.

During this consultation you’ll be made aware of treatment’s benefits and side effects and you will have to sign a consent form.

After the treatment you will be invited for a follow up appointment in 2 weeks, to assess results and a possible touch up, if necessary.

How long do the results last for?

Results are immediately visible, right after the treatment, with the best aesthetic results achieved 2 weeks after treatment.

Results usually last for 6-12 months, in same patients they can last up to 2 years.

Are there any side effects?

Common side effects are:

  • Pain or stinging at the injection site
  • Swelling, redness, mild bleeding and bruising at the injection site
  • Numbness
  • Headache

All these usually settle spontaneously within a few days after treatment.

What is the downtime and after care?

Dermal fillers have no down time, you can go back to work and resume your activities right after the treatment.

However there are some recommendations to follow in order to maximize the effects of your treatment such as:

  • Do not wear make up for at least 12 hours
  • Do not consume alcohol or perform vigorous exercise for 14 days
  • Avoid hot bath, saunas and steam rooms or other extreme sources of heat, including sunbathing for 14 days
  • Avoid non-steroidal analgesia as they might worsen the bruising
